Double win for Marketing Mixology at the 2020 UK Enterprise Awards.

I am absolutely delighted to reveal that Marketing Mixology has won two (yes two!) awards at the 2020 UK Enterprise Awards.

The UK Enterprise Awards are hosted by SME News, a digital publication dedicated to helping small businesses and SME’s grow and succeed by providing valuable advice, tools, tips and articles. The UK Enterprise Awards are in their 4th year and were developed to help shine a light on small businesses and SME’s throughout the UK.

An unexpected nomination

Back in March I received an email from the SME News team to say I had been nominated for an award and did I want to take my beloved Marketing Mixology forward.

My reaction was “errmaaaaghaad yes!!” and I started pulling together all the information and supporting evidence the team had requested. Whilst I was excited I was also conscious that LOADS of fab small businesses had received the same email, so whilst I was thrilled at being contacted I didn’t expect to hear from the team again.

Then Covid hit, the world got v. weird and I kinda forgot all about the awards.

Sometimes good news comes when you least expect it

Mid pandemic another email from the awards team landed in my inbox … I thought it was going to be a “thanks for entering, you seem nice and all that but you haven’t got through to the final stage” type email but what I actually saw was:

“I am delighted to say it's great news! Marketing Mixology has been awarded; Best SME Marketing Service 2020 - East England and Customer Service Excellence Award – Cambridgeshire”.

Well, dear reader I nearly dropped my cuppa in shock and excitement.

See, entering awards and putting yourself out there is something I help my clients with on a daily basis. Showcasing all their good news on their website, in case studies, on their socials and all that good stuff. As well as supporting them through any low confidence moments, reminding them that they should be proud of what they have achieved and the value they bring to their clients and shout about it as much as possible.

When the boot is on the other foot – I can sometimes struggle but am working on kicking that comparisonitis to the kerb once and for all and things like this definitely helps.

I’ve won awards as part of a team before but this time it was different. I have poured my heart and soul into Marketing Mixology and whilst it’s lovely to own your own biz it’s also v. hard sometimes. So to be recognised in the two wonderful categories, well it just blows me away.

Every time I look at the trophy, which has pride of place in the office, I do a little happy dance. Huge thanks to the SME News team for selecting me and big love to all the other amazing nominees, finalists and winners.

I guess the moral of this story is that wonderful things happen when you jump at the opportunities that come along.
