Content Ideas for April ‘23

It’s official – Spring is here! Hurrah for lighter evenings, baby animals frolicking about, tulips and mini eggs (a.k.a top tier choccies!)!

April is also just a few days away - if you’re stuck for ideas of things to share on social grab yourself a cheeky Hot Cross Bun and spend five mins here with me.

In this blog post I’ll be sharing 5 quick content ideas that are easy to implement as well as my curated a list of awareness days that are taking place this month.

5 quick content ideas.

I know that as a small business person you have *A LOT* of stuff going on so we need ideas that are going to be quick and easy to create, provide opportunities for engagement with your audience as well as shining a light on the products and services you offer.

So, lets dive in:

Share a top tip

Everyone loves a top tip or hack to doing something.

Service based? Think about your audience and what they would find useful e.g a time saving tip or something you have implemented within your business that could be of use.

Products your thing? Tips to increase the longevity of your products are a great starting point e.g best ways to wash / clean or how to get the best out of using them

Testimonials

Sharing a testimonial is a great way to further build up trust with your audience, plus it also shows potential customers what a brilliant catch you are. Think about including images of the work if applicable and tagging your happy customer where possible so they can re-share with their audience to.

Behind the Scenes

People love getting to know more about the person / people behind the brand so think about sharing some behind the scenes content. You could package an order to show the care you take and processes, show how you get that perfect shot at a photoshoot or share a shot of your creative workspace.

Live Q & A

More at home with video? A live Q & A is a great way to engage with your audience plus after you can share the replay on your feed and in turn re-share it again another time.

Before you go live make sure you give your audience plenty of notice so that your audience can join you and get involved.

Re-introduce yourself and your brand

It’s always good to regularly re-introduce yourself on your socials as you steadily build your audience. An re-introduction is great to share as a reel or a static post and in terms of what to share, keep it relaxed and fun – I’ve popped a few prompts below to get your creative juices flowing:

  • A little about you (where you come from, likes / loves, pets and family etc)

  • Why you started your biz

  • Your favourite thing about what you do

  • Your hidden talents

  • Your favourite foods or dishes to cook

  • Celebrity sightings

  • Your hobbies / things you love to do when you aren’t in work

Awareness Days

Awareness days provide a great way for you to start a conversation with your audience as well as increasing your engagement. (Just make sure you include the hashtags)

As we know there are awareness days for a whole range of weird and wonderful things as well as social, economic and charitable causes, so it’s important to choose which ones align with you and your business rather than creating content for each and every one.

Not sure what to write about? Here are some caption writing prompts for you:

  • Talk about why you support the charity / that awareness day

  • Share any products / services that align with the day e.g the selection of teas you serve in your café for National Tea Day

  • Easter opening hours, wishing your customers a fab Easter break, special Easter offers you are running.
